Wierd noise when desending steep hill
#11
Just wanted to add that my 700 has the typical "clanking" or "clunking" on decelleration or on the steep decents.......This noise is supposed to be so called normal........But the squealing sound doesn't sound right.... Maybe you have a problem with the rear brakes? Do you hear the sound even when your not on the brakes?

it may be the belt by a chance running around your clutch
a clank cluch cruch niose is normal but a squeel definatly is not... it can be a few things as mentioned about... brakes... belt... if its does not sound right to you take a minute to talk to polaris directly and see what they can give you for ideas to present to your dealer

If you drop the rpm enough and the hill is steep enough the belt will slip and squeal in high range.Put quad in low try same hill bet it don't do it.I run mine in high a lot going down hill to keep the ebs under control, but you have to keep the revs up a bit or keep it in low so the belt won't overrun the clutch.

Thanks for all the replys.
Well yes there is a clanking but i kinda thought that was the u joints...
but the alarming noise is a very shrill high pitched metal to metal noise.
Seems like i am not the only one..
Has anybody called polaris about this problem
again guys thanks for the reply
