Default need alittle help

Just got a 300 express today . Its in preaty bad shape but has not been run that much , just poor mantanice. I just have a couple of questions . First it would not start i took the carb off and cleaned it but i think it is in need of a rebuild it was really gunked up , should i rebuild or just clean it again ? Second question is about oil injection , where is the oil injected into the system is it the hose on the bottom of the carb? How should i check to see if its working proplery ?
Got it running barely . It will run with the choke wide opean only . and ideas? The float was stuck but its free now.Like i said its not been taken care of but its not been run that much , Its been a year since it last ran. Any and all info is greatly apreacited . Its a 99 if that helps. Sorry for all the dumb questions ,just alittle lost here!

Thanks

First...welcome to the site. There are lots of useful people here. Next, I'd soak/clean the carb again, with carb cleaner. Get it squeaky clean, and make sure the jets are clean too. If there is fuel in it, drain it. Make sure the tank is clean too. Might not hurt to install an in-line fuel filter for a while.....You want to make sure both the pilot and main jets are clean and clear. Next, might not hurt to throw a spark plug in it either(I think they are a BR8ES). Make sure the air intake system in clean and clear too. Next, about the oil injection. I can't quite remember how it works, without a quad to look at. I do know, that oil injector is on the front, right side of the motor. It is kinda under the headpipe....

Thanks I am going to start really working on it tomarrow , I did drain the gas . I also checked the plug it was not really bad but i am going to get a new one tomarrow . I am just glad i got it to fire off at all . Ill probly just pick up some oil and run alittle in the tank for peice of mind while i work on it. I was test running it without a filter but it would only take alittle gas . Probly because it would only run with the choke wide opean Any way thanks for the info and keep it comming , I need all the help i can get .

Keep in mind also that as long as the quad sat it may be possible that the floats are saturated or cracked and will need to be replaced. I had one run similar to this about a year ago. I went to an auto parts store and bought some good fuel additive carb cleaner (good meaning the well known brands, that cost a bit more) you will pay 5-7 bucks for a bottle but after I let the engine run for an hour or so I was able to run the engine normally without the choke having to be messed with all the time. Be sure only to use the amount suggested on the bottle. The good ones are pretty potent.

So i got it running . I drove it up and down the road with the choke wide opean. It seemed to be oiling because it smoked like crazey and had that 2 cycle smell to it , and it did not lock up.When i even turn the choke to half way it idles for a bit then dies . Same with it off. Just idles if i give it any gas it slowly dies. What would cause this? Going to drain all the old oil out tomarrow and buy a new plug just wondering if i just need to buy the rebuild kit for the carb or if there is any thing eles i can do .

Just clean it real good and go from there. As long as the throtle cable is moving the oil pump lever and it is smoking you should be ok.

Its running alot better now i soked the carb in cleaner and now it just wont idle without the choke on . I was haveing a great deal of fun ridding it around the community until the man shut me down . Popo said i cant ride it on the streets anymore i said you guys are just no fun at all . luckly they got the joke and just told me to keep it off the street . Which brings me to another question anybody in the Madison/Huntsville AL ,that would know a good place to ride?

Take the pilot jet and main jet out and clean them or replace them and it will do better.

Ok here is where i am at . I changed the fule filter plug and changed the 2 stroke oil. I found out that if i disconect one of the vacume lines it runs preaty good . iI tried switching the lines around in diffrent confegerations and it only runs if the top vacume line is off .If the top vacume line is on it will only runn with the choke on full. No problem you say just take the check valve off the the vacume line . Only problem is that it takes forever to idle down with the valve off ,and i cant put it into gear with the idle high. Any help form someone that knows about these carbs would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks from some one who really wants to get this thing out tomarrow and rid the **** out of it
