Maybe this'll help, maybe it won't, but on performance porting jobs on V8's, most people leave a rough texture on the intake ports to keep the fuel in suspension(denser charge=more power). Just my 2 pennies.....

Yes fasternu is correct on a 4 stroke V8 or single if the intake track is too smooth it can flow worse than a rough one. The moisture (fuel) creates a lot of surface tension on the walls. If the finish is a little rougher it creates turbulence along the wall and does not allow the moisture to get a hold on the wall. The exhaust is the opposite you don`t want any turbulence just smooth sailing.
