Default Pull Start...Help please

Im selling my 250 trailblazer to a friend and when he came over to ride it the rope wont retract at all. Its pulled out as far as it will go and wont go back in. How do i fix this? I know i will have to take the cover off but what do i do? Havent even looked at it yet but i know its not broken as it has happend before but gramps fixed it and he doesnt have time to now. Any help will be greatly appriciated! Thanks

Seth

Default Pull Start...Help please

My 94 trailblazer did this all the time. The outer cover was warped to start with, most the time I could take the cover off and beat it out and it was fine. But after the yrs of pulling the pulley the rope went on wore out the housing behind the rope pulley and engine housing and had to make a bushing to fix that problem. I hope I said that right. lol Just take the cover off and check for a lot of play (side to side and up and down)on the pulley.

I took the cover off and had a look. There is no play side to side or up and down. I used some spray lube to try and make it spin a little bit more free but it doesnt seem to want to recoil! It wouldnt bee that big of a deal except my battery wont hold a charge.

try to wind it in by hand a little. becareful and watch ur hand in case the spring isnt broke it will snap back in quick. if there is no resinstance most likely your spring either broke or came out of its holder. if you decide to take it apart yourself watch out if the spring gets loose on you it could be painful as well as a night mare to put back together.
