I have a Polaris Explorer 300 and there is a loud clicking coming from the rear end. It gets louder when turning and under a load. I was wondering if it is the chain and sprockets or what? any ideas

 

I had the same problem with my 300 express and I did everything to try to find out what the clicking was. I even replaced the rear wheel bearings, but it still did it. What I ended up finding was the left side wheel lock nut was loose. I never found it when I replaced the bearings because I only took the right side hub off to get the axel out, I never even checked the left side to see if it was loose. Boy was I mad when I found out it was that, after spending the money to replacing the bearings. It sounds like the same problem I was having, It only did it on a load and when you turn real sharp. I hope I helped ya out.

 

Most likely either the chain is loose or the hub nut is loose. Check the lug nuts while you are at it. It could also be a bad link in the chain. Block up the frame so the rear wheels are off the ground & rotate the rear wheels. Look carefully at the chain as it goes around, any link that doesn't look like all the others do as it goes around would be worth looking at better.
