BEWARE of the HAWKEYE. DANGEROUS
#32
I understand that some may bash brands some may praise them.
Remember the reason this post started was to help other Hawkeye owners keep a good eye on the rear subframe welds.
i have a post on this site about my bad weld on my steering shaft, could have killed me!
read my thread.

FireCaptinSteve,
You are so right.
I had a experiance with welds on a Yamaha Bear Tracker I purchased for the wife and after that ever ATV including the last I have a friend that owns a machine shop and is a top notch welder and he has done a inspection on every machine i am currently riding. There are problems that may be missed but overall I feel much better with my family riding a machine that has had a third party at least check it out to the best of there ability.
EVERYONE RIDE SAFE AND POTECT YOUR BIGGEST ASSET, YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY, MECHANICAL ITEMS DO FAIL WE JUST NEED TO BE PROACTIVE TO MAKE THE ODDS ON OUR SIDE

Update on Hawkeye. Dealer at cycle motion in middletown NY has totally tore down the quad and told me that after further inspection of parts that the subframe was going to let loose on the opposite side with its a-arm mount also cracked. Owner of dealer took it apart himself. He called polaris engineering to let them know that this is way under the strenth capabilities for that quad unless you use it as a golf cart. I love my SP600 and how it's rides and all wheel drive but if this is how polaris backs there product and is going to take me to the cleaners on a quad that has been ridden 5 or 6 times i refuse to give that company another dime of my hard earned money. will keep you updated.
Still cannot get the photo on. will not go through. still trying

As a new owner of one, that definitely concerns me. All i can hope is that your dealer has enough pull with Polaris, or that he is willing to share his findings with other dealers in order to put pressure on Polaris to get ALL of our Hawkeyes strengthened up. That or they better be able to stand up to a ton of lawsuits if this turns into a trend with our Hawks throwing riders.

I have the same problem. My tire looked crooked and a close inspection revealed that the Sub Frame where the A-Arm mounted was just about to fall off, and the other side was cracked as well. The steel is way to thin here!! Just dropped it off for a warranty repair, but this should be a recall with a better replacement part! Very dangerous. Any Ideas? I am in AZ. This thing rocks on the rocky trails (except for this part).
