Default Synthetic Winch rope

I'm thinking about getting rid of the wire winch rope and going with synthetic rope. Any one got it. IF so how do you like it.

Yea, Greg hooked me up with another vendor he's been dealing whit. www.bc-offraod.com. They sell a snythetic rope harse that is made out of a self lubing polomer and causes far less wear on your rope over the metal ones. There winch prices are also pretty good if your not into the Chinese knock offs.

I've got the synthetic rope on 3 winches, great so far. I am using the roller fairleads as they were new when I put the rope on. Another site to check is rockstomper.com, they are in Colorado and sell amsteel brand I believe.

I have been wanting to do this since I got my Sportsman, now thanks to you I have ordered the rope and guide from http://www.bc-offroad.com. I was able to use paypal and that is always a plus.

I can not wait to never again, oh wait I have to remove that nasty old wire rope . . . well after that I will never have nasty punctures on my hands when dealing with my winch (or is that wench :-) )

Definitely going to upgrade also. My question is-can you put a longer cable (rope) on a warn A2000? I know it comes with 50' of metal, but does the rope spool neater and easier allowing more cable on the drum? Thanks in advance.

I recently got the Amsteel Blue rope from rockstomper myself. I got the aluminum hawse fairlead too. So far I love it and would never consider going back to the old pain in the *** steel cable. When I ordered it, the guy told me to get the same length as the original cable. You do want to make sure that you never run your hook back up into the aluminum hawse, though. I made a UHMW bushing that I put on the rope above the hook to protect it.

You can’t really get any more synthetic winch rope on the drum than wire rope (3/16” is still 3/16”). Not only that but the abrasion sheath (10’ on the AmSteel, 5’ on the MasterPull) takes up any little bit of extra room you may have.

You can buy a synthetic “extension rope” to carry elsewhere if you need more. It’s usually 50’ of whatever diameter you choose with a thimble (metal loop) on each end.

I have a 50 foot Amsteel blue rope on my A2000 and it fills the spool up pretty good. I definitely wouldn't go any longer then 50 ft. I have pictures of it in my gallery. I really like my rope and I won't go back to wire cable. So far I've pulled an extremely large log with it, pulled out another Polaris ATV that was stuck in a snow bank, pulled myself out of a snowbank, plowed with it and it shows very little sign of wear. I wouldn't think twice about buying another one.
