Default Replacing belt right now need help!!!!!

I bought a new belt for my 02 700 sportsman and when i got the belt cover off it looks like the belt that is on it is in good shape. We had some snow a few weeks back and the belt would scream alot so i decided to replace it now and it looks like the belt is ok, what do i do? Do belts stretch? could that be what is wrong with it? Also how do i take the belt off and put the new one on? Do i pull the big clutch looking thing off? PLEASE HELP I AM WORKING NOW

It dont take a whole lot of wear to lose pep. Wont hurt to put the new one on. To loosen & get off have to push & I believe twist the outer sheave on the secondary (rear ) It is very stiff so you have to do it hard. Then your belt will fall down into the wider opening between & you hold & pull belt out. Install in opposite.

ok belt is on and it is worse? i took the old one off and slipped the new one on pretty easy, does this mean my clutch is bad? I took my air compresser and blew all the dust out of the clutch housing, any idea what i do next?

It barely pulls like it is slipping and when i stop and took off in high it squealed little bit. I tried to pull the clutch housing off with a 3 hook wheel puller but i didnt crank it hard i tried to pull it off and it didnt seem to wanna come so i stopped. then i just worked the belt on with my hands, i did turn the pulleys backwards would that hurt anything?
