Is it absolutely essential to have a girdle kit with the billet head?

If I decide to save a few hundred $$'s and just get the carb bored...will the "average" rider (me) notice a huge difference?

Thanks

The porting gives about 3 to 4 more horses do to more flow in the intake and exhaust side. A K&N filter and a pipe/silencer really make the porting worth every penny.
The only way to go on the carburator is buy a complete carb from hsp or hpd, when you go to a 34mm carb to a 38-42mm carb be perpared to go to the pump more often for gas.

NO, a billet head does not require the use of a girdle kit. I won't hurt, but it's use should be determined by the compression of the motor.

Secondly, a 42mm TMX from Hot Seat is a waste. LRD actually has the cheapest prices I've seen for 38TMX's, but I'm not sure they have enough experience to jet it properly. I believe that the 39PWK is the better carb of the two.

As for the exact number of expected HP to gain, would depend on the shop doing the porting. Truth be told the rider needs to specify what they want out of the work, and the shop will port accordingly. If you only want 3-4 then so be it.

Xplor If you noticed on the hpd dyno chart the the machine was'nt only ported it also had the pipe, reeds, and carb running at 92 octane.
Alone the porting with give 3 to 4 horses, thats why I said add a pipe/silencer and filter to get the most out of the porting.
The importance of flow is'nt only at the engine, it starts at the airfilter and ends at the silencer.
