Default belt play

Any input on the amount of belt play would be appreciated, just installed a HPD shift drum conversion kit(roller kit) and Dalton Clutch kit on my 02 Scrambler 500 4X4. The belt is EXTREMELY loose, lots of play. Understand the RPM/CLUTCH concept for the engage but does anyone have this type of set-up. Did you have this play issue? The belt just seems way too loose, more than the 1 1/4" deflection the instructions call for...any sugesstion?

I'm not familiar with that set-up but sounds like you might have to remove some shims from the secondary clutch to tighten up the deflection.

Default belt play

Took it for a ride today, great pull thruout the throttle. BUT, when i let off the throttle ( full throttle ) the belt slaps inside the cover. To the point where it wore a groove on the TOPSIDE of the cover by the air intake. Might be the shim in the seconday, if i remember right there was only one. I realy like the set-up, Rick Ritter was right on as usuall, just concerned about the belt play. Does anyone run a smaller belt to take some of the slack out?
