Default 06 Sporstman 500 LE Oil Reservoir Location

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has had concerns about the location of the oil reservoir? It seems ideally located for a dangerous impact with a narrow stump or other that could come up between the left front tire and the frame .. also a little perplexed at the configuration of it .. with the dipstick down low and all that case above it ..

Anyway .. just wondering if anyone has hit this, or is this a new location for the 06 500 LE and similar models .. Is there any protection that could be installed?

Sorry for the gazillion questions but I'm totally new to utes and polaris. Any opinions welcomed ..

Cheers

The dipstick is not on top of the oil tank any longer? I was looking at the new oil tanks they are black and smooth (No Fins) are they made of plastic now.?

Plastic, no cooling fins, and the dipstick is near the bottom.

Is that a improvement or a cost saving change? Cant be for weight saving because the new SP500 are as heavy as they always been.
