800 E.F.I. and fuel economy
#2
My first 2 tanks went pretty quick. I was only getting about 9 or 10 mpg. I rode about 70 miles last weekend and i got about 12. Thant included playing in the mud. I just took some extra gas with me. I've read that they do get better once they break in, but i think that 12-14 is about it for these things. Once I test drove mine, i wasnt really concerned about the gas. By the way, I only have about 200 miles on mine so far, so it isnt really broke in yet.

bame here but i did get 15 or 16 conce when riding a stread pace for a while. but the minute i started hamming thru the mud it dropped hard but what fun it is. if you want fuel ecomny dont buy the 700 or 800 buy the 500 there pretty good on gas.

we ride here at 60% road and 40% trail with very little mud and I usually see about 20mpg or about 60 mile per tank of fuel. To convert this to US mpg deduct about 20 % and that equals about 16mph.

I'm confused. Shouldn't that be 20kpg converted to 16 mpg? Of course if you are swampin or only muddin it should be nmpg instead of smpg. JK My last ride (60 miles) on both road and trails at 6500 feet was 13.8 smpg. $$$$$$$.

If you buy an 800cc twin you dont care about mpg. Carry an extra gas can.
