How to remove axle out of 2000 Magnum
Has any one ever takin an axle out of a Magnum before?
here's a link
2000 Magnum swing arm
I'm trying to replace the bearings (#3 on the diagram) and I'm having trouble getting the axle tube ( part #33) off.
Any ideas...
Thanks

How to remove axle out of 2000 Magnum
Ok no problem...
1 Remove part #1 disk brake hub (assumed you already have)
2 pry out seal
3 polish exposed axle shaft as clean as possible and lubricate with grease
4 remove the three bolts #8
5 slightly crack the four bolts holding #33 onto the dif (only slightly to minimize potential side load on the axle)
6 turn the large hub acorn nut around on the end of the axle (brake side) and wind on until it is flush with the end of the axle
7 use hardwood between the hammer and the end of the axle to drive the axle in towards the differential. It should move.
The axle should move left to right standing at the back of the bike. There is an "O" ring on the axle about 3/4" in from the right side of the differential. It is not shown on the parts list.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I'll try and help you out.

How to remove axle out of 2000 Magnum
The axle will not come out. I think the bearings are seized onto the axle. I've been pounding on the axle for 2 days and it has not moved. I'm even using a maul and a block of wood.
Anyone got any ideas to help!!!!
PLEASE!!!!!!
or maybe i should use the maul on the entire ATV????

How to remove axle out of 2000 Magnum
My next suggestion would be to remove the entire axle and diff assembly. By removing the four bolts on the right side the assembly will slide backwards off the splined drive shaft.
Bring it too a machine shop or someone with a hydraulic press.
You now have a choice:
Somewhat seized you may be able to keep the diff assembled. Support all the bolts evenly that hold it together. (Could crush diff. housing if over pressed)
Really seized I recommend you Split the diff so you can support the aluminium diff directly behind where the tube #33 meets the diff cover. More force can be applied and no loading on the diff bearings or contents.
Be cautious and careful and you should be successful. The shaft can only move from left to right and the bearings are removed right to left. To make matters worse the inner axle bearing has a cir-clip (big one) to retain it so the outer bearing must be removed before you can get at it. The hydraulic press will also help for pressing these out as as well.
There is no miracle cure…hope this helps

How to remove axle out of 2000 Magnum
I got it.
It took a huge press, 3 men, lots of WD-40, an hour and a half of cus word I can not repeat!
There was lots of rust inside the tube. The outer seal must have been gone a long time.
Now I have to get the new parts and put it back together!
Joy Joy!!
