Default sportsmans 700efi going sideways downhill

I live in colorado and do some fairly steep atv trails--dirt and rocks--the 700 seems to have quite a problem going downhill--it has a tendency to let the rear end attempt to swing around on you--I use the throttle just to activate the transmittion but this dosn't seem to help--I have ridden honda rubicons and they don't do the same as the polaris--could it be the stock tires on the 04 polaris 700 or any other suggestions--thanks--

It's the rear only engine braking. I learned if you give it just enough throttle while using the brakes, you can keep it straight. It takes some practice, but once you get used to it, it's easy and you don't even have to think about it. It's the only thing I don't like about Polaris.

unless you are crawling down over a hill DO NOT use low range that makes the tires lock up easier. i always use high range and use the brakes and when you feel the rear sliding bump the throttle.
