800 EFI WIRING HELP???
#1
Heres the situation, I ripped the headlight pod off off my 06 -efi and am a little lost where to reconnect some of the wires.
First the 2 wires going to the cig lighter adapter were off. Does the hot wire connect to the side or the bottom of the lighter? Yellow is hot, brown is ground.
2nd, I found a 3 prong adapter laying loose w/ brown/green/blue wires in it and cant seem to find where it connects????
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have an '05 800. If I remember right, the brown (ground) goes to the side of the lighter and mine is orange w/white stripe (hot) at the base. I don't have a three prong with those same colors. I have a three prong sealed red/white/black that (again, if I remember correctly) operates the speedo and runs to smaller plug on the back of the gauge. Beyond that, I have the large plug to the gauge and two lines that run to the work light switch. Besides the ignition, I think that is all of the stock wiring that I have running to anything in the pod. If I get the chance to actually look at mine, I will try to find a plug like described. Have you got all of the plugs hooked up on the gauge and switch? The ignition?

Hey Lawdog,
I think that connector your talking about (3 pin) is for the "speedo diagnostic", and it doesn't connect to anything. I don't have the schematic with me to confirm the color coding though. I know both of mine have a 3 wire connector that isn't attached to anything, but they are down in front of the pod under the access panel.

You guys rock. The 3 prong connector is the only one that I cant find a place to plug in and the lcd works good without it connected to anything, so You are probably right. And also thanks for the info on the lighter

First off, I got it all back together and working smoothly. As far as breaking it off, I was going down a dirt road....about 2 weeks ago, doin about 55, rounded a bend a there was a tree laying across the road. All I can say is ouch!!! I hit the brakes and skidded into the tree and the quad stopped and I kept going. Where I skidded, the tree was farther off the ground. I dont know how I managed to only rip off the pod and not hurt anything else. Upon closer inspection, I missed the cpu box by about 1.5 inches. My ribs are still sore and my knee is just starting to feel better. But my quad is ok lol. All I had to replace was the pod bottom and the headlight. To my amazement though, when I went to pick up the stuff today, there was a brand new bulb installed in the headlight so that save me SOME money.
