DOES A HIGH MILEAGE POLARIS EXIST ??????
#23
"2000 Polaris Sportsman 500" Replaced 3 rear axle's. Broke only one belt. Replaced cooling fan & (O U C H ) that hurt my billfold. Broke the plastic racks everytime I turned it over or bumped into someone. Replaced 3 water pumps. Replaced countless rear cv joint boots. Rear spring cup broke. Replaced the rods and things in the shifter linkage. Had to replace every bushing in the a-arms,and always kept it greased. That is all I can remember though. 2700 miles. I gave it to my dad and he is still riding it. He is still replacing things on it quiet often. I have to admit, that I am very hard on them though. Speedometer is broke and been broke for a while so we don't know exactly how many miles it has now. Approx 4000 though. It probably would have been a longer lasting ute if I had'nt jumped it and hit every mudhole in sight. No I am not bashing Polaris either. They make a fine utility atv. But they are not ment for aggressive riders such as I. I thought Sptortsman ment it was a sport/utility. It is a great atv for draging logs and pushing snow though. Heavy like a tank and will work like one also. Again I am not bashing brands. I know people that has had good luck out of them. Mine has the highest mileage of any I know of though!

I bought my first Sportsman in 1998 and since have had a 500HO,700 carb,700 EFI and now have a 2005 800 EFI. We ride 2000 miles a year or more and I have had one water pump replaced on the 700 carb under warranty. We started out with all different kinds on machines and now all seven ride Sportsmans. All riding is done in the mountains of Idaho and Washington. We have an excellent dealer
in Cottonwood Idaho.
