Yeh what he said. Dont waste the time with a predator or any polaris at all for that matter. They may have changed it by now, but the pred I rode (early model) had the most uncomfortable seat ever. Honestly be better replacing it with a banana seat from a huffy.
the only time i sit down is if im not moving or just cruising, and by then the seat doesnt really matter. (and both my main friends have predators so ive rode them a good amount)

Sorry guys, but it's true that the Predators rocket away from almost everything in fourth. I'll grant that a lot of the 450's are nice bikes, and to be honest the throttle response and instant acceleration from them being lighter is nice. But it is a FACT that the Pred has a higher power to weight ratio than these machines it just takes it a little more R to really get moving. I also enjoyed the coment about Power/Weight and how it talked about weight... and that's all... Lets look at the numbers:

46HP/415lbs = .1108HP/lb
37HP/350lbs = .1057HP/lb

Interesting figures when you actually include POWER in the POWER/WEIGHT ratio isn't it? But since you folks have your newly renewed two-year subscriptions, you obviously know everything about how these units compare so forget what I say. Hey i think Dirt Wheels is doing a 450s vs. Jesus shootout next month!
although you do have a valid point (assuming your hp information is correct), please understand that there are many more factors that decided which bike will be faster. HP/LB is just the tip of the iceburg.

to answer the original question, yes the predators are quick. admittedly i have not seen many of them (the majority of people riding in so-cal seem to be on z400s and 450s) but from what i have seen they seem to be respectable. i don't know about walking away from just about every other bike in 4th gear or 12hp increases from a pipe but it's no slouch. even if it was slower than the 450s, for what you're paying for it you are closer to z400 territory than then 450s. i don't know about you but i would rather have a preddy than a z400 (no offense to anyone with a z400, i think they are great bikes but from what i have seen i believe i would enjoy the preddy more). if you can, try to find someone that will let you test ride one to make sure you like it before you buy.

dude,

Breezer just posted that he was being sarcastic, but your reply is significant enough to question anyway.

Do you think that no polaris owner can hold a poor opinion of another bike the company makes? We have a kawasaki, 2 Polaris', and a Yamaha. Does that mean that I'm supposed to love every machine those companies make?

The reason for your assumption of this may be the envy that these high performance sport quads can cause. Many of the people singing the praises of the predator are scrambler/hawkeye/trailblazer/etc owners who wish they had a sport quad. Just as many of the people who claim the yfz or Raptor is the greatest gift to man are warrior or blaster owners who long for something bigger and better. Same situation with 250 Honda and Zuki owners wishing for the 450 race bikes. Most of the rest are the owners of these bikes, who will say anything and believe anything to justify their purchase. There are a few people out there that can realize that these bikes all have their high and low points and won't drill whatever they dont like into the ground. They can even be critical of the machines they own and understand that other bikes can do some things better.

In any case, the pred is not putting 46hp to the ground in stock trim and neither is any other mass produced sport atv.

My opinion is there are good bikes from all brands its your choice. For all of you that think ALL Polaris suck, why dont you bring what you got to St.Joe State park sometime and you can get you a good ole dose of Polaris!!!I have a friend with an 05 Pred,I have a 400 Sport, and if they won't get the job done there is a guy named Rick that has a 400 Sport that is kicking tail and taking names just ask any one on these forums that rides St.Joe.You apparently haven't riddenone>
