Default Warn Winch Contactor Block

I recently had the contactor for my Warn 2500 lb winch burn up. Well it partially melted anyhow and is junk. I got a new 3,000 lb winch and will be using the 2500 lb one on the rear of my 800, or installing it on my brother inlaws 4 wheeler. Anyhow.... I need a contactor for this winch. Are there any out there I can use for this winch instead of spending so much for a new Warn contactor? Any other 12 volt contactor blocks or relays that will work for me? If anyone has any ideas.. please do let me know.

Yes look at ebay. There is a contactor made by Gorilla that is identical to the warn. Gorilla is an exact warn knock off. You can get the contactor kit from ebay for about $30.

Rob,
I recently ran into your problem. I bought a new onr from dennis kirk. However when I was putting it on I thought to my self why didnt you just put a 12 volt ford starter selanoid on for 12.00 it's the same thing switches your out and them in thats all. give it a try and let me know if it works its only a 12.00 part. the same thing that works a myers snow plow for your truck. Hope this helps good luck.

I think the Ford Starter Relay is for short bursts of use, where the Myer Plowing Relay and wich Relay's are for continues duty. If you use a Ford starter Relay it will burn out in a short period of time I think.

Can anyone else confirm this?

If you go to a napa, they can get you a heavy duty solenoid that has an all metal body and a high amperage rating, i think the application is for a golf cart.

Ok, I found the Gorilla upgrade kits on Ebay. It comes with the contactor, rocker switch and some wiring,,,, for $24.00 including shipping. I think I will give it a shot. I have not used gorilla products before, so I hope the quality is there to, along with the good price.
