Hi all--I am a total newbie to atving. If you had to choose between a '98 Xplorer 300 w/a BRAND new engine rebuilt by the Polaris dealer and the body is in excellent condition for about $1900 or an '01 Scrambler that also looks like it's in great condition for $2500, which would you take? I plan to ride at a fairly tame state park--no sand or extremely hilly terrain. I am a lightweight female rider--don't know if that makes a difference, but somebody told me that Polaris is great for people w/a small build b/c the McPherson Struts keep you from getting bounced around too hard. THanks for the help--I really don't know what I'm doing.....Heidi

Either one will be great. The xplorer will not be as fast as the 400 but with the 4x4 it is always nice to have. Both have the same suspension so that should not be an issue. If the xplorer is in good shape I would go for that.

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

The 400 Scrambler can be intemidating for a beginer. But can be made very fast. The 300 is a good machine too and would be great to learn on.You can always trade up when you want more power.
