The Starter will not engage-it just spins. The quad only has 50 hours on it (My wife's-not mine!) I don't want to take it back to the dealer. Any ideas? Thanks.

 

 

My wife also has a scrambler. It dosen't get riden very often. It sits for 3-4 weeks between rides. Every time I get it ready to go it has a dead battery, I charge the battery and the starter won't engage just spins. I can pull start it and let it run for a couple of mins. and the starter then works fine. On the last ride I bought a new Bat. and it seems to be okay now.

this happened to my quad i bought a new battery and it fire right up try charging your old battery first

 

It sounds to me like your starter bendix is out. The starter does not actually engauge it turns a clutch gear which is called the bendix. You can get a new bendix for about $50.00 on ebay. The bendix is located about where the pull start cover is on mine which is a polaris sportsman 500 h.o. I am not sure what kind of quad you have though. I hope this helps
