SP 700 Carb what's happening
#1
I've got an 2004.5 carbed 700. Lately when I ride on a long straightaway it kind of dies out once it hits 45 on the speedometer. It used to run up to 55-60 range. It takes off fine full throttle from a complete stop but once it hits 45 it's like the machine all of a sudden has a speed limiter on it.
Any ideas what's going on with my machine? Clutch, carb, what should I check first?

if its running fine and has no power loss or bogging i would start at the clutchs maybe the spring in the secondary is out or broke or something. just my 2 cents where i would start

Thats what my 700 was doing and THATS what the problem was. The Plastic collar had backed off it tightned up about 3-4 complete turns and WAL-LAH I had my top speed back! Good Luck,Take Care!!
