first off this atv has been a great machine the past 5 years never broke down on me until yesterday when after about an hour or riding the engine bogged down and stalled and wouldn't restart. I checked it over and found it has no spark even with a new plug, will not shock you if touching the spark plug wire or anything, I checked with a voltmeter and there's no voltage coming from the plug wire.
what I have checked so far:
-cleaned the cdi and coil connections
-checked resistance through the coil and plug wire, checks out fine has resistance, not "open"
-unplugged the kill switch, no difference
-unplugged the ETC system, no difference
where do I go from here? Is there a way of testing the cdi unit? I checked resistance through all the wires and there's no "open" in the unit.
I read in another post there's a ground wire that goes from the engine to the frame, where is this located and could this cause a no spark problem?
what else should I check? thanks for any help!

Well I have checked the resistance of the exciting coil, measuring between the black/red & brown/white wires according to "The Polaris 2-stroke ATV Ignition Testing Procedure"at bigbuck atv.com and it's supposed to be 120ohms and it's showing the circuit as "open" when I check it from where the harness connects into the cdi box. So either the wiring from the exciting coil to the cdi box is bad, or the exciting coil needs to be replaced. I'm thinking it's the coil itself...
so I can rule out the cdi box as being the problem, correct?
if you have any input on this situation i'd really appreciate it, thanks.
