help with starting problem 300 xpress
well I have a 99 300 xpress and it runs pretty good. And starts up just find when it has set for a few hours. But if it has been run for a while even as little as 5 min. and you shut it off and then try to start it back up it does not start up. You have to play with the choke and throttle for a while to get it to start, And then when it starts it does not want to idle at all. To try to fix this I have drained the gas and refilled, changed the plug, cleaned the k&n filter, and also the idle adjustment screw is all the way in so it can not be turned up anymore.any help would be great thanks alot

also one more thing I took the carb off and sparyed it out with carb cleaner. I did not take it apart just sprayed in all the holes. If I wanted to take this off in the future how do you go about take the 2 wires off the run down in the top of it. THANKS ALOT FOR YOUR TIME.

you said the idle screw is turned all the way in. if that was the case it would be idling way to high to drive it. somethinks not right there. spraying carb cleaner in it w/out taking it apart really doesnt do much good to get in the jets and needle seat and what not. you also said it starts and runs fine, does thast mean it has no bogg plenty of power and idles ok as well? channce are that if it does start fine and run good then the jets arent plugged. is the vent tubes clear and no climps. sounds almost like it vapor locks. just some idears.

help with starting problem 300 xpress
ok I have the air mixture screw 1 1/2 turns from closed per haynes repair manual. And the idle speed screw all the way in (spring fully compressed) and even after it sets for a while and you can start it up easily it does not idle high at all. As for the wires I should have said cables like the throttle cable and the other one beside it. All the vent tubes are free and clear. Which brings up another question are they just vent tubes or should some of them be hooked up to a vaccum source? thanks for the replys keepum coming
