jam,
the Xplorer has been very good to me.I mud with it alot and the chain wore quicker than I had anticipated[900 miles],however,Polaris just replaced the chain and both sprockets free of charge to me.Funny thing,I rode yesterday for 2 hrs, come home and I expected to have to adjust the new chain. It was still tight. The first chain and sprockets required alot of adjustments,so im sorta shocked that this new one was still tight.Perhaps I got a bad chain/sprockets with the new quad and things will look up with the new parts?
Problems?
1.Chain and sprockets at 900 miles
2.Entire concentric drive unit has been replaced at 800 miles
3.Right side outter tie rods been replaced 2 times
The quad sees alot of mud,it also likes casual trail riding to.I haul firewood up some steep muddy hills with it also. One time I did encounter a performance problem,it was my fault though, the exaust tube was PLUGGED with mud.I cleaned it and everything was back to normal again. The 2 stroke engine is awesume, the power band is great to,especially after I added a Green primary clutch spring. The quad weighs 110 lbs less than its bigger brother, the Sportsman 500cc,however,the Xplorer is faster and throttle response is better to,on the down side, the Sportsman has the better ride of the two.The ride differance is not even noticed until you switch rides with a friend who owns a Sportsman though,

rnl,
you need to be very careful where you ride in lower Mi.In lower Mi,it is illegal to ride anywhere that's not a marked ''DESIGNATED'' trail. In the UP of Mi,you can ride allmost all the Forest roads though.
Have you been to the Mounds yet?It is legal and is in Mt Morris Mi.St Helen would be the next closest ''LEGAL'' riding area.

Bill, no haven't been to the mounds yet but if I get the scrambler then I''l be up there. A lot of guys at work take their trucks up there and mud. Would like to head up to Bull Gap sometime though. We used to ride out in Fenton at a spot, but its now a subdivision.Anyway all plans on hold till job situation is figured out.
