Sportsman 500 AWD?

Sportsman 500 AWD?
My 98 sportsman 500 will not go into 4wd. The nuetral light stays on when I put in reverse. I messed with the switch in the shift housing, but it seems ok. Any ideas? Thanks -Ryan
