Default adjusting idle

On a 05 sportsman 500 where is the idle adjuster located and what will it look like. I need to set it up a little. When warmed up it idles at 925 rpm's. What should it be at? Thanks so much for the help.

Default adjusting idle

Well, I have an '06 and the idle adjuster is on the left side of the carb below the float bowl. Look for a motorcycle wheel looking thing at the end of a flex tube, it is meant to be turned by hand. Turn it clockwise to increase the idle. My owners manual says 1200 rpm +or- 100. My shop manual says 1100 rpm +or- 200.

Your '05 may or may not be the same.

Default adjusting idle

Not exactly sure what mine are set on rpm wise. Enough so it doesn't die at idle, and not so much it grinds the gears when shifting.

I do know I adjust it a lot. Mine are just cold natured, so I may bump it up a little till it get warm, then lower it again.
