What oil to use for a '05 Sportsman 400
#1
Hello All,
It's time for me to change my "break-in" oil so i'm asking for some advice as to the oil i purchased. I bought the Pure Polaris Synthetic Oil change kit. It has the 3 quarts of synthetic oil, filter....etc. My question is, is that the right oil??? I looked online and the synthetic oil is used for the Predators. On the polaris site it says to use the 0w-40 4 stroke oil and no where on my syntheic oil kit does it say what weight the oil is.
Please help.
Thank you,
Nathan

The best thing you can do if forget all about that Polaris crap and buy some good oil for your machine.
Go to any auto parts store or Walmart and buy a good name brand synthetic oil.
I highly reccomend Castrol Syntec 5w50 but Mobile 1 or Amsoil will do very well.

That is the right oil, but it's no better than any other brand name synthetic of the same API rating. Just don't freak out when you go to pour that Pure Polaris stuff, it has a disctinct green color to it.

i priced the amsoil and it was more then the polaris do why spend it on oil thats more money. i bought a gallon of the 0-40 polaris. i surpose you could buy mobil 1 as well.
