Default upgrading suspension on 2001 Sportsman 500

I have a stock 2001 Sportsman 500.I think the suspension is too soft..compared with other guys newer bikes I ride with..This causes it to feel tippy on side hills .
Anyone know the best way to fix this ? ,without spending too much thanks

that's kind of polaris selling feature, the nice ride. them and artic cat. do you have adjustable preload. just try the highest setting and see how that works for you. i have the opposite problem with my brute. harsh ride and still not the greatest handling. that's a sorry combination for sure.

You can replace the front springs with 05 or newer 800 springs. They are about 1.5 inches longer than your stock springs. They will work with a small strut spacer or you can also replace the strut. If you want to try that give me a shout and I will let you know where you can find a set.

do you know what i can do for my brute force 650i to have the opposite effect. i would like a shorter spring to lower the ride height and reduce tippy handling. i know it's not a kawasaki forum but i've been over there asking around and still need a good suggestion. thanks, jason

Jason, try giving progressive suspension a call and tell them of your woes. I saw on their website that they have springs for the Prairies so I'm guessing they have them for the Brutes also. I'm guessing they probably use the same sizes. They always were helpful for my mx bikes, Brian

I had a '01 500 Sportsman, I put Scrambler 500 4x4 springs on it. Worked great. It does lift the front end and stiffens it. I had no problems with the shocks or spacers.
