Default External fan switch

Hey,
Has anyone wired an inline switch and pulled it to the panel to turn on the fan, thus bypassing the frustrating cooling fan thermostat switch?? I want to do it on my 1996 sportsman 400 (2 stroke) if it isnt "bad".
Anyone have good or bad advise??

The fan switch works off of a ground. You can splice into the groung and run a wire up to the pod. Then you hook one side of the switch to that wire and run the other side of the switch to a ground on the frame. I have done this to some Sp and even my Rincon. So now you can bypass the oem switch and turn it on when you want to or if you forget to turn it on the thermostat will still turn it on.

On my 02 Magnum 500, I unplugged the thermo switch and plugged the fan into the accessory plug. Now my fan comes on as soon as I turn the key, and if I want to keep cooling it after I stop, I turn the key switch back to on but not start it. Keeps me from worrying about overheating.

Fan motors are EXPENSIVE. There is no reason to have it running at all times. The thermo switch does a good job of kicking the fan on ONLY when it is needed.
