Tranny problem?
#1
Saturday I noticed that as I put my sp500 in high gear to drive, my engine reved and didn't engage the wheels. Then it caught and I was fine. This occured every time from a dead stop. I usually get immediate response when I punch the throttle. In low gear and reverse, I hit the throttle and I immediatly move.I've tried to be good and used low range when putting around.
Have I burned up a belt? Any thoughts?

You may have burned the belt a bit. I suggest that you take the belt cover off and check it before you ride again. Email me for more. hotrod111@hotmail.com

To remove the belt cover first: take the floorboards off by loosening the 3/8 bolts that hold the fenders on off. Then take the screws in the floorboards off they will have nuts on the underside of the floorboards. then the two screws on each side of the fender on the front and the backof the bike then you are able to get to the cover. Next, remove the 3/8 bolts that hold on the cover all the way around. you will have to get down low to see the two on the bottom of the cover by the floorboard mount. then once you have all of the bolts out, there is a clip on the back side where the battery is. It is just a clip to keep it tight in the back. Remove that clip and the cover will be able to remove. Then from there the belt can be inspected. You will probably want to remove the belt to check it more thoroughly. All you have to do is pull the belt over the driven clutch just like you are putting a bicycle chain on. Once you pull part of the belt over, proceed by turning the clutches and pulling at the same time. The belt will then be able to come off. If you need anymore help let me know.
