Default 05 sportsman 400polaris flooding ?

When I go ridding in the mud & the going gets tuff, I keep the throttle wide open (on & off) to get out of the mud. At times it appears that the engine is follding out as in getting too much gas & I loose power for a few min. Then, It ( the engine ) appears to catch up & go . This only happens when I get in a strain. Any clues ? anyone else have / had this problem ?
thanks

Come on guys, help me out here . I can't be the only 1 having this problem. A friend has 05 that does the same thing. I told him that I was sure someone on here would know the answer.

If I remember right I think there was an issue with a cracked coil at one time I remember reading. It seemed that when the coil got wet it shorted out and caused it to sputter. Another option might be that water is getting in your plug cap. Try putting some kind of electrical grease in it then smap it back on the plug and try that. Happy Trails!

polaris did have some main jet problems with the 400 sportsman basicaly the main jet was one size to big. tell your dealer about your problem and he should fix it for you free of charge. there was a service bulletin on this problem but it is only fixed on customers machines that complain about it

chance are pretty good that u have a fuel pump problem, it may not be up to par when the going gets tuff, u work the motor harder, use up more fuel thatn normal, fuel pump cant keep up to the demand, carb bowl starts to run low, cuases to run like running out of fuel, or sputter. could possibly be the float height in the carb may be set too low, things to chak anyway

It sounds more like what motoman its saying. Getting too much fuel instead of too little. Once when this happened I pulled my air box cover to check the filter & the filter was soaked in fuel but, I had no idea of the cause & didn't think anymore about it until the other day when it appeard to flood again . I didn't take the air box off then . I guess , I should have I will call the dealer next week & ask about the service bullitin .
Thanks for responding guys. I don't think the dealer will repair at no cost as the unit is out of warranty.
