'06 Sportsman 500 HO front spring upgrade?
#1
Anyone know of any?
Everything I find is for up to 2004. My front springs are super soft with no adjustment and I'd hate to see what it would look like trying to hold a plow. I'll be doing that soon as it will start snowing here by the end of October.
If anyone knows of any stiffer springs from different models that would work on mine, I would love to hear about it.
TIA!!

I have an 06 450 and I would like to stiffen up the front end too. I think they are the same springs as the 500 so I will be interested to see the responses you get. I have read that you can get springs off a 700 and they are stiffer but i don't know anyone who has done that. I see you have a K&N filter...did you notice any better throttle response or power? I want one since there only $40 and a new paper is $15...but any performance increase would be nice too.

Just joined today and already I found something I can comment on....
If the front suspension is the same as my 02 500 HO, I just installed a set of front springs from a ranger or sportsman 6x6. They are a little shorter (1") but got rid of my sagged out front end so I actually gained atleast 2". You can also install a lift with these 6x6 springs to compensate for the loss but not sure if it is worth the cost. Huge improvement in the ride.

05 and newer are differant than 04 and older,I have HighLifter lift springs on my 06 I gianed about 1 1/2 to 2 in. of lift. Erlandson Performance Inc. (EPI) has them or you can use Polaris 700 and 800 springs 05 and newer.

Crazy,
I got my Benz from arkansasduckhunter.com. It works great, the bike is just about silent at idle, and you can barely hear it at low throttle settings. I didn't notice any difference in performance. I permanently installed mine, I bolted it up and trailered it to Midas and they welded it right on the trailer, took all of five minutes and they didn't even charge me. They thought it was cool. Here is a PIC I took of the finished installation. I used washers to fill the gap in the clamps so I could tighten it properly without ruining the clamp, if you'd like pics from different angles I can send them by email.
Debo,
The K&N is nice and the stock pre-filter fits it just fine, so I didn't buy the K&N pre-charger. I bought the K&N mostly for convenience of cleaning. I've used K&N's for years in my cars and motorcycles so I didn't hesitate to throw one in my ATV. As far as power, I don't ride my 500 really hard so I can't really say. But throttle response is very nice, I DID notice that it was crisper after the K&N.
Thanks for the replies guys.

Hello,
I have a 06 500 efi and my dealer installed
part# 7031110-067 it was called "spring comp 125/170#/IN BLK
My bike sits high in the front but I have not hooked up my plow and used it yet and I only have 11 hrs on it. I have seen bike with this done to them and they still have great response in the suspensions and very little sag if any.

Sheepdog -
I noticed from your pic that your silencer
doesn't have a heat shield, is that needed or
optional? I just ordered the ATV Stealth Exhaust
system from BassPro Shops. Waiting to see
how much more quiet it will run my quad.
Cheers,
