98 sportsman 500 no spark
I just picked up a 98 500 sportsman with no spark, the original owner told me that the starter deid on it. When He put on a new one he had no spark. Can someone give me the ohm's readings so I can see if this is the stator. I already checked the plug wire and that has no breaks. Any help would be great. thanks.

Here are the reading for the 1999 sportsman 500... may or may not be the same for the 1998.
Factory resistance values for the stator....
capacitor charge coil:
grn to blk/r - 446 ohms (replaced mine with a Ricky bobbin reads 380 ohms, works fine)
grn to r - 1.6 ohms (replaced mine with a Ricky bobbin it reads 3.5 ohms, works fine)
grn to ground- no connection
trigger coil:
w to w/r - 97 ohms
w to ground - no connection
battery charge coil:
y to y/r - 0.13 ohms
y to ground - no connection
ignition coil:
primary - 0.3 ohms
secondary - 6300 ohms plus
5000 ohms (cap)
There are stator coil peak readings that can be checked while cranking
the engine over using a peak reading voltmeter.
With a fully charged battery and spark plug installed during cranking
should produce the following voltages on a peak reading volt meter.
Exciter 1 Black/red and red 140 DCV
Exciter 2 Black/red and green 140 DCV
Exciter3 Green and red 5 DCV
Pulse (trigger) white/red and white 2.5 DCV
