recoil problem
#1
i have a 93 polaris 350l and i had to take the starter out to replace the brushes....i had to remove the recoil to get at 2 bolts inside and now i cant figure out how to get the darn thing to recoil....i need help...spent all day today on just that and still couldn't figure it out... i have the haynes manual and it says to just spin the recoil 3 complete turns after the cord is tight and then that should set the tension...but it doesn't....its just not generating tension...i am sure its something simple but i cant figure it out....thanx in advance ?..jamie

sounds like your spring came unhooked. it you pull out the cord and its not recoiling back at all and you have wound it up so to speak then its what i said or it broke one of the two.

There is a spring behind the reel that the rope winds around. If I remember there is a nut in the center that holds the reel and the spring is coiled behind it. Be very careful as the spring is connected to the reel and the housing and can spring out at you in a hurry when you remove the nut.
