Finaly Got It Back
#1
Well today the chevrolet dealer finaly called me saying my scrambler was all done and back at there garage. When I got there talking to the salsmen i baught it from he was saying that the tranny replacement cost 1500 bucks. I was like wow thats pricey. He said the old one had a giant crack in the case. Ever heard of people cracking cases guys?? I mean the quad its self is in excellent shape with great plastc and its stright, it has the original tires that still have amazing tread on them how could someone crack a tranny case like that. I know i didn't do it I road it once and stoped after 15 minutes do to the noise i was hearing. I just hope it doesn't happen again because this time it would come out of my pocket. Pretty crazy that a transmission for a four wheeler cost more than the brand new transmission i baught for my 2003 chevrolet blazer 4x4. The 4x4 is working great, and everything seems solid, still havn't had a chance to realy ride her and know its hunting season so i will be waiting some more. He was also saying that the mechanic told him to tell me that when in 4x4 and the fronts kick in only one kicks in at a time until that one slips and then the other will kick in. Is this true i though they both spun once the rear slipped? Allright im out figured i would share my expirance.

Here is a parts list for OEM parts for your gear case from bikebandit .com parts with prices The gear case halfs are $207 each. The whole complete case is $1091.99 so they must of gave you a whole new case with guts plus labour?
If it was just a crack case could they not just buy the two case halfs and swap the internals?

Ya thats what i was thinking to but i have the resceit from polaris. Either way didn't come out of my pocket so its all good i got a brand new tranny out of it. Just was wondering if the hole new tranny was realy needed and how often they break. Thanks for the input!

Trannies do not go because they are guarded pretty well by a heavy full skidplate on Polaris Utility ATVs anyways, not sure about the scrambler being a sport bike its skidplate may be less beefy for weight reasons. One bolder hit on the trail the wrong way and its crank case or gear case heaven for them in a split second.
