Default 01 SPORTSMAN 500 TRANNY/CLUTCH HELP

I have a 2001 sportsman 500 with about 600 miles on it, This thing is in really good shape. The last couple of times i took it out the tranny is grinding when i shift into any gear. It does get stuck in forward and reverse at times. Also when it is at idle in gear it creeps, to the point where i have to hold the break to keep from running away on me. I just put on a new maintenence kit and it did get a little better for the first 50 miles but now its back to the same thing. (clutches are clean) are there any adjustments on the belt deflection? it seems that that would fix the problem, but im not sure. please help

try slowing down the idle, if that doesnt work you have a clutch alignment problem.

Default 01 SPORTSMAN 500 TRANNY/CLUTCH HELP

I had the same problem with my 2001 sp500 ho. I took my clutch off, took it to my dealer, and had them replace a brass washer, and teflon thrust washer inside my clutch. I also put a new clutch spring in, just to make sure that the clutch was opening all the way. I now can ride without grinding or creeping!
The only other thing that I can think of is that your belt may have been hot at one time or another. If the belt rubs the movable side of the clutch, it will cause creep. I mean that the belt may not be running straight.
Good luck!
