Would you believe it? I didn't buy the Outlander!

My wife and I travelled about 100 miles yesterday. The X2 is the smoothest Sportsman we have been on. The Kimpex seat is very comfortable, especially with the raised footrest. The quad handles nicely and the turf mode makes the machine very manoeuvrable.
The only negative is a rumble/vibration above 40mph. I've read about this from other owners on another forum and suspect it is inherent into the design. It's not a big deal but somewhat irritating.
Hey Pol700, I found an e-mail address in my private messages - I assume it was you. If not see "private messages" above your name when you log in.

Ebel,
I?m glad to hear you like the X2.
I don't like the over 40 vibration though. I recall one other thread on this and it turned out to be the clutch. I do not recall if it was the primary or secondary. I would expect these machines to be smooth.

My Outlander doesn't vibrate!
Whats interesting is the only place I read about broken Outlander frames is on other forums where people have "heard about broken frames" I follow a few forums and broken frams have never been an issue...Compare the frame design to that of the arch in construction. Simple yet designed to last centuries.....
The Sportsman and the Outlander are intended for different uses.
I'd get that vibration checked, I've "heard" those Polaris transmissions have had some issues.

Suprdavtn................you're an idiot. It's people like you that we don't need on here! I may not post often, but I read a lot, and it's people like you that can give a good forum like this a bad reputation. Go back to your hole.

SST=surrounding spar technology, not single spar technology
pros
-lighter than regular frames, its supposed to be stronger than regular but im not sure, glides over stuff easier where other frames would get hung up,
regular
pros
-heavy, good for towing (just like a 450r would suck at towing cuz it would spin cuz its so light, heavy quads can tow better)
-its strong
if the sst is weaker frame than regular frames, who cares, thats what titanium is for, making invincible stuff,
i like sst cuz the rally has sst frame and my ds250 doesnt, and the rally is lighter, even tho its a ute.
i bet that the rally would beat the polaris Sawtooth, the rally even weighs 45lbs lighter than my ds250, 384 vs. 429lbs

jampg - When did you get your X2 ? I got mine at the end of March 2006. I had 2 out of balance clutches that came off of quads in the same shipment. I wonder if they had a batch of secondary clutches that were not balanced. With the latest clutch there is no more vibration.
I had a 2004 400cc outlander Max (2up) for 9000km's (5600miles) and the frame did take quite a beating. It never broke, but it didn't look pretty. It was crushed in the center to the point that the square spar tube was almost flat in spots. The outlander needs skidplate protection if riding in rocky areas and it doesn't "ski" over anymore than other quads.
The rear suspension was too stiff for me as I rarely ride 2up. So I tried the rear springs and shocks from the wife's SP450 on the x2. Much better ride now. I need to make up a lift for the rear shocks as the regular sportsman shocks are 1" shorter than the X2's.

Milkmanz,
I did not get my X2 yet. My dealer here in Michigan told me the 800's are not being built until after thanksgiving.
Ebel's 500 X2 sounds like it may be experiencing the same issue you had.
Are you vibe free now?
