Polaris 250 issues
#1
I have read the posts on others who have flooding problems with their 2-strokes. I think mine goes a step
farther. I have an 88 250es. Its a strong atv. However, it floods OFTEN. Its really bad after setting awhile
or after about a 30 minute ride. I have taken the pull start crank from the side of the crank case, and fuel
will often leak out. The 1st time, which was after about two days of trying to get it started, it probably released
about a cup of fuel from the side of the crank. After I had the block dried out, I was able to get it started. I made
sure I kept the gas shut off. I checked it about every 8 hours or so, just to make sure it would start. Today, we
took it for a ride, and i shut the gas off and let the atv idle for about 2 minutes, then shut it down. Tonite, I tried
to start it and it smelled of fuel and wouldnt even spark. I took the crank off the side of the case, and about 2
tablespoons of fuel came out.
Does anyone have an idea of whats going on here. I have had the carburetor apart and everything seems
fine. I can understand if I may need to get a kit, including needle, to make sure its up to par.... but what makes
soooo much fuel fall down into the crankcase. Do I have bigger issues here?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Check the vent line coming off the carb.I have had them stop up and even seen one once that the check was on wrong and higher than the carb. This let the carb fill with gas and run down into the starter cover and eventually into the starter messing it up.
