Default Compression Relief 500 Scrambler

I have a 500 Scrambler that has been boared & stroked. When running it is great. The Problem is that there is so much compression the starter has a tough workout or just cannot turn it over, drasticly worse in cold months. Has anyone seen a commpression relief that can be added to the head? Keep in mind where the head is. It would almost have to be a cable or hose type.

If the cam is stock it has one in it already - you may want to check for proper operation .

If the cam was changed to a high performance type the compression release was probably discarded and can't be reinstalled .

Your battery may be weak, try jumping it to see if that helps. If it is the battery try to get one with more cold cranking amps than what you now have....

Its not the battery..mine is the same way. I put a JE piston .035" over shaved my head..and added a web cam. Web cam recommend no compression release as they remove the ball that is on the cam..mine has a hard time turning over as well unless the piston is at TDC.

I have VERY much the same problem. I use the recoil start and the electric start at the same time. Works pretty well. Make sure you have the idle bumped up and the choke out to get it to fire off right away. Another tip is to get a GOOD battery. An AGM battery tends to have more kick to it, especially when cold.
