Default 01 sp 500 creaping now what

I did a search on here and found out that alot of people have had problems with these sportsman's creaping. I don't want to shim my secondary, because i feel that that is only a temporary fix. My idle is set as low as posible. Now where the problem really is... the primary clutch, what actually goes bad in there? i do have EBS. I looked at ronnies.com mico fische and see alot of parts to replace but i dont want to waste my time replacing stuff i dont need to. Does anyone know exactly what goes bad. By the way i only have 582 miles on this thing.

They only way to fix it is to adjust the belt angle. This is done by making the belt run staighter on the cluches. If the belt touches the primary too much, it will pull the belt which causes the creeping. When this happens you are also slipping the belt which weres out a belt quicker. Pull the side cover off and look at the position of the belt. It should not be touching the primary sides at an idle(or engine off), if it is shim the secondary until it is good!

this would only happen if the engine has moved or the secondary ***.(not likely). maybe the belt is junk and time for a new one. this happened to my 02' when my belt actuallu shrunk causing it to be too tight.

On my 2000 500 Magnum 4x4, the front spring was weak causing creep, so I just put it in neutural until I was ready to go......................simple fix. After 1100 miles I installed a new spring/belt and adjusted it to slightly tighter than specs and it creeps, so I just put it in neutural until I am ready to go........................On the Kaw Prairie 650/700 I would adjust belt tight until it squeals sitting still and the belt would last 1500-2500 miles, otherwise only around 300-800 miles..........good luck

jpn800..I have found the problem normally is caused by not down shifting when riding under 7 mph or when decending steep hills..The fix is replacing the brass washer part#7556202 and the fiber washer ptfe part# 7556204..These are in your drive clutch (primary) Hope this helps..

Thats what i was looking for... Thanks. Also i have a new belt on there now, i forgot to mention that in my original post. It did get better with the new belt for about 50 miles but now its back to the same thing and a pain to ride.

To check this out good, ensure that there is clearance on both sides of the belt on the primary sheave. If not, then the clutch is dragging the belt along with it, as it spins. A weak spring will cause the primary to engage too early and not allow any clearance at an idle. To look for this, watch the primary as you start it, if it moves in once running, but before you give it gas, then the spring may be weak, or idle too high(which you have said is not th case!) Check it and let us know. We'll help you figure it out!

There is a design flaw in those early ebs primary?s. the Sprague or ebs roller grinds the clutch sheaves and eventually allows the belt to ride on top of the Sprague instead of down in it.
If you look and feel carefully at the sheave faces you will see were the lower portion is worn.

The only real long lasting fix is to replace the primary. ??.all the other fixes you read about are a short term fix!
