500 HO that's been sitting
#1
Hi,
I was hoping someone could help me out. I moved to Florida 4 years ago and my 2001 Sportsman 500 HO has been pretty much sitting covered since then. I never drained the gas (I know) and of course the battery is dead. I changed the gas once about 2 years ago and got it pull started but it wouldn't idle without a little help on the throttle. Ran well other than that though.
My question would be how much do you think it would cost me to get it going again if I sent it to a dealer? The machine is almost mint and has approx. 75 hours and 200 miles on it. Thanks for any information.

at least 75.00 and up depending on your dealer. sounds like it needs a carb cleaning not too bad. might consider doing it your self and save the money.

That cheap huh? Wow that makes me happier! How much is a battery and will the tires be a problem sitting on concrete for that long? Also, Should I get the belt changed after sitting?

the 75.00 is for cleaning the carb only no battery. go to walmart buy one for 40.oo tires would be fine im guesing and no ned to change the belt.

yea but the 700 is like my 800 battery. there alot bigger and more expensive then a 500 batt. would be.
