hello all, i just bought my first polaris, a 01 scrambler 500 4x4. havent had it out on a trail much only had it a couple of weeks. But so far i really like it. the only question i have is that i dont think the 4x4 works in reverse, i think the previous owner by-passed the override switch so u dont have to push it to have full power. could by-passing the override button have any affect on 4x4 in reverse? any help appreciated. thanks

 

They may have just bypassed part of it, you may still have to push the button for four wheel drive in reverse, try it and let us know.

 

id check the wiring if the override doesnt help

 

My 05 works in reverse, saw a kid stuck on a sand hill with his and asked him why he wasn't using his 4x4 in reverse, apparently the older models didn't have the capability. I questioned it and tried myself, (I just don't learn that easy), sure enough, it worked forward but not reverse.

 

im pretty sure the older models can. mine will. sometimes too well and i end up doin a wheelie
