What would cause my Scrammy to pull some to the right and make it difficult to steer it left while driving it? I verified that the 4wd is not engaged by driving it on the sand and just the back tires spun but the pulling to the right & difficulty turning left continued. I did notice both front a arm bushings seem a tiny bit loose, could that cause it to pull in one direction and/or make it difficult to turn in one direction vs. the other? Would a front drive problem cause this? Maybe I should check the front wheels to see if the right side is harder to turn than the left side...

 

Maybe the front right brake is grabbing?

 

sounds like your front wheels are still being slightly engaged. becuase i know when they are in 4wd they will pull at slow speeds and hard to steer.

you could check your tires and see how they spin.

also, the front lower a arm will be a little loose but it shouldnt be once it is greased fully(u should have a grease fitting)

 

sometimes mine does that and backing up 10 or so feet usually fixes it.

 

yea i was about to say that. it even says in the manual sometimes u need to back up a few feet to fully unlock the front hubs.

but how it sounds it is definatly a drive issue.

yes i know polaris makes a rebuild kit to rebuild the front hubs(comes with a special fluid that goes in). it involves taking off the plastic cap on the hub. i have never done it before but it is mentioned and shown in my service manual. also, checking lube in the front Diff wouldnt hurt either.

 

Well I'm thinking now it's more to do with the alignment, like I said, I can be driving in sand/mud and only the rear tires are spinning, and there's still a slight pull to the right/hard to steer left even then. Hub's were serviced less than 10 hours ago (fluid). I greased all the zerks at the same time. I had backed up several times, one time well over 30 ft, lol. It's not an intermittant tugging kind of feel from the 4wd kicking in/out, but a persistant feel, like a car with a bad alignment. How would I best go about checking the alignment? The tie rods (all 4) are less than 20 hrs. old so maybe I didn't get it just right?

 

It has NOTHING to do with alignment.

If you would look at the rear of your machine you will notice you have one rear tire taller than the other. It is that simple.

 

Would that also explain why it would be harder to steer left & easier to steer right? All 4 tires are original Titan 489s. I had it up to 50 mph on pavement and noticed no vibrations or anything that would indicate a damaged tire, just the tug to the right and difficulty steering left...all right/left pairs of tires were inflated at the same psi.
