Not likely on a 700 but it is possible that it could be a cam problem or an exhaust problem. It could be possible that the exhaust is partly clogged and causeing a restriction when you give it gas but be ok at idle. If the exhaust lobe on the camdshaft is worn down then it would be the same as a stopped up exhaust. I've never heard of a cam problem on any of the twins but anything can happen. I'm by no means saying this is the problem but it kinda fits the description. I would definatly let a GOOD and trustworthy dealer look at it if you are unsure of how to check. If they arn't smart then they'll end up keeping it for 2 months and charging you out the rear end for something that may cost nearly nothing to repair. I have seen cams on older 500's go from good to bad like you turned on a switch. Its amazing on how much wear they can take and then all of a sudden it is worn enough ti cause it to run like crap. I hope I'm way off and most likely am but it was another thought

I know I didn't rule that out neither but it only has 675 miles and the previous owner didn't abuse it and took very good care of it.(Changed all the fluids alot) He mainly used it to plow his driveway and put around with his kids. I'm not sure on how good the dealer is but the other dealer is 3 weeks backed up. I will tell them what I think and what I did so far. It has to be a carb problem, stator, or maybe a cam problem so I hope it won't take to long to figure out.

You've had the spark plug boots off? they could have gotten wet inside, spray with wd 40 and put some dialectric grease in them, check the other end where they go into the coils, sounds like it got wet somewhere, wd 40 will displace water , try it on electrical connections, take the top off of the etc and make sure it didnt get wet.

The etc is dry and I tested it and it's ok. I dried all electrical connections and checked the plug boots and wires to coil. It has plenty of spark in both cylinders. Just way to much fuel entering cylinders

Did you check the intake boot? You about have to remove the air box and carb to check it good, some have split and will cause these problems. While you have the carb off take it apart and clean it with carb cleaner if you are comfortable doing it.

I just went out to my garage and NOW ITS ALLSET!!!! I rode it around the neighborhood for 20 minutes and its fine. It must have been something wet and dried or water in the fuel and it needed to burn off. I don't know but I will let it run for a few minutes after I wash it from now on.

The oil looks a little dirty now. Is it possible that when it was running rich and not burning the fuel that some fuel got into the oil? I will probably changed it anyways but I'k just curious

you can smell it if it has gas in it or look at the amount of oil is it overfull now? if it was stuck float it would fill the oil w/ gas but you said it would idle fine correct. thats why i dont think it would be a float issue as it would flood it right out even faster at idle.when yopu wah it just try not to soak the areas w/ alot of electric components. chances are if its that when you go in deep mud/water you will have the same issue. good luck and let us know.

What areas should I try to watch for? Obviously the coil but that is hard to get wet. I usually dry it with my compressor but this time I didn't have time. The plug wire usually gets wet on rt.side but I blow it out. under the seat can get nasty but I use a fine stream and am careful
