Default 1996 polaris explorer

I've just torn down a 1996 400 explorer engine and begain a search for reasonably priced parts. The obvious failure is the upper and lower rod bearings. A local discount parts dealer tried to look up & price needed items. But she was reluctant because the name " explorer" was'nt listed, Are all 2 cycle polaris 400's the same ? Is there a complete crank & rod kit available ? the rest of the explorer is in fair condition. Do you think it's worth a complete engine rebuild ?
