I would be very interested in hearing the experience of anyone who has ridden a Polaris X2 on pavement in "turf mode."
I just bought a new 2006 Sportsman 450. It is registered and street insured with State Farm. I'm in Northwest Tucson and have been exploring the area west of Thornydale and north of Ina Rd. On and off road.
I'd like to feel comfortable making turns at a higher speed than seems ok with my quad without "turf mode."

I guess if I was traveling to Home Depot, 5 miles on 45 mph streets the normal tires I want for sand roads would be the limitation. Keeping two sets of wheels for the occasional pavement trip would probably be worthwhile. Also a windshield and turnsignals.

My X2 and my son's ATP both have the turf mode. We regularly get gas at the bottom of the trail system we use and are on pavement for a short time. The turf mode helps out a lot on hard surfaces when taking turns. No scrubbing of the rear tires at all. It's a great feature. I haven't torn up my lawn when carting around firewood for my wood stove.
