I just removed the rear spring and shock and to my surprise the rear shock compresses but does not come back at all!

How much for a new one? Stock or fox? Please tell me it's under 150$...please

Brian

Here's a dumb follow-up question:

In the rear of the Xplorer, is it the spring that makes the shock go back up or is my shock defective for real?

I just thought about it and...

Get in touch w/ the "Bad Boyz of AZ"...ie(Dennis Shotwell, and Eric Bellinger). They have a fellow there in AZ who rebuilds the rear shock to your riding specs! First rate service and if I am not mistaken, it should be less than $150.

Worth a look,

EC

You can also order the inerds for the shock from polaris and do it your self. Let me know if you want the part #'s.

Sounds normal on the older models. Some of the 01 machines have gas shocks, which should rebound on their own, slowly perhaps, but they should. As long as there is good resistance both ways, I would think it is still OK. If it is leaking oil, though, toss it or get it rebuilt.

On the pure-polaris online store they have a fox gas charged shock with remote reservoir for $159.99. I think they fit on everything but Sportsmans.

I am not sure what year/model you have, but there is a fox shock for sale for a scrambler on ebay right now. It is at $75.00. Here is the link:
