Default AWD Caution

Awhile ago I had a post about a buddys 04 500ho that when doing a wheelie the AWD would kick in and the front tires would start to turn when off the ground and in 2-wheel drive, and know one could give me a good reason why this is happening, so I put my 06 500 up on blocks to see if it did it to and to see if his has a problem, I put it in gear in 2- wheel drive and slowly gave it some throttle and at about 15 to 20 mph the front end kicked in hard and the front tires started to turn, I let off of the gas, and stopped the tires from turning and then gave it gas again and it was still locked in and still in 2- wheel drive, the only way it would unlock was to put in reverse, this should not happen it is hard on the front diff. and VERY DANGEROUS. So if your going to lift the the *** end off the ground to check something out with it in gear you better lift the front to or it will be going though your garage door.

You have a problem with your machine. I have jacked the rear end up many a times on a sportsman and gassed it. The fronts should never lock up if in 2wd.

I better not have a problem, it doesn't even have 500 mi. on it and its not riden that hard either, if its broke already then Polaris needs to get there s&%t togather and build a better 4-wheel drive system then if it cant handle the way I ride, I rode my 03 Grizz alot harder and never had a problem. And yes the diff. oil was changed w/ the right Polaris oil.

Polaris has one of the best, if not the best 4 wheel drive systems in the industry. Just because it is new, doesnt mean nothing. Something is not right, front wheels should never lock up when in 2wd. There are tens of thousands of new cars bought each day that have something wrong right away. Its not because polaris makes a bad system, its because things happen. Its an off-road vehicle!

cant even lock it in? It locks in when needed! unlike most quads with a seperate "diff lock" button or switch. The polaris 4 wheel system kicks in right away and locks all 4 wheels when needed not 3 like some other brands. I aint gonna get into a manufacturer war, My opinion, Polaris has the best 4 wheel drive system out there!

When needed!! After a 1/5 wheel spin, then it kicks in. If I was rock crawling and needed 4 wd I sure wouldn't want to have to wait for a small wheel spin. I'd just reach down and hit the locker and I'd have ALL 4 Wheel Drive.
Polaris a great machines....for snow plowing due to their weight.
I too dont want to get into brand bashing , but you guys have been watching too many Polaris produced Videos.

1/5th wheel spin...lmao...you would barely know it spun at 1/5 wheel spin. Whatever, for 95% of everyday ATV riders, the polaris 4 wheel system cant be beat. I guess for a few select riders who want to hold and push a bunch of buttons to get there diffs locked up and cant have a 1/5 wheel spin before it locks, this isnt the system for you.

thats good about not getting into the war part. i wouldnt want to tell you what i think of the 400 and 450 kodaicks that i ride with. polaris is a awd drive and not a 4x4(like the 3 wheel drives w/ a locker whinch is a pain in the a.. in some models and dont always work the best. but as we all have our own opinions.
