The 250 engine has been around since 85. The longest on the polaris line and very little changes along the way. I haven't seen any polaris engines gives problems as a whole. The sportsman motor that held the 425 and 500 had cam issues but was corrected. The 400 2 stroke did have a vibration or rattle in it at about 3000 rpms that could cause the piston failure but otherwise no problems out of any. (major) Some can argue stator or running problems or carb or gaskets or seals are considered problems with the engines. But my thinking is of the actual mechanical part. They are all pretty sound
