Low gear grind
#1
I have a 99 Polaris Sportsman 500 4X4. Lately I have been having trouble getting into low gear. When I put the lever over and up, and give it some gas it kicks out of gear. When I try to put it back in it grinds. Sometimes it will catch when I apply pressure to the lever. Does this sound like a gear is getting wore out or what? I use this to pull a manure spreader about twice a week and it's getting worse now.

We had a similar problem on a polaris transmission. What we found was where the gear selection rods went back to the trand and turned a shaft in the top of the trans the bushing was worn out. We just adjusted the linkage but replacing the bushing would have worked to. Check if these input shafts are loose.
